Well, it was an accident. I saw a craigslist ad for a 1974 bmw 2002 that was sitting in this guy's driveway for 9 years and had to go by friday... sent him a joke email about trading a guitar I hadn't used in a while...and he responded. He wanted to know what kind of guitar I had to trade!
Dumbfounded and now scared that my new bride would kill me...
I took 30 minutes & made the call to Kate to see if I could have a new car, errrrr old car.
I knew we had no extramoney...we had just gotten married. How would I gather the $$$ to fix up a car??? My amazing bride agreed that I could buy the car as longs as the money to fix it up came from a source outside of our normal income.
My brain focused on all that was mine to sell. All I had left of my bachelorism was a bunch of IKEA furniture (that I knew would have to go soon, after all I just got married) and a bunch of musical instruments laying around (that I knew would have to go soon, did I mention I just got married)
...everything else was now "ours".
I couldn't sell that new ice-cream maker that we were gifted to make the extra money to fix up a little car. I couldn't get rid of that new "duvet"... especially not after I found out what a duvet was!
That was it...the instruments had to go.
I responded to the man with the car & he liked one of my acoustics...and wanted to trade. Here's the guitar...an Ovation Balladeer S771 worth $650 new.

Not a bad trade, eh??? A guitar for a car!
We set up a time to pick up the car...I borrowed an SUV and rented a trailer, off we went!
When we arrived I wondered what I had gotten myself into...
lets just say the tires had moss growing on the north side of the car.
It took us 30 minutes to pry loose the tires that had bonded to the driveway...
Had to use a tow strap tied to a minivan...
Popped free & rolled into the middle of the street.
Got it on the trailer & headed home!
